If a re-read of your website can silently overwrite a correction you made, you stop making corrections. So it can't.
Here is a small design decision that decides whether a product like this is worth having. You read what your chat agent learned from your website, spot that the Saturday hours are out of date, and fix them. Six weeks later you press “re-read my site”, because you've added a new service. What happens to the hours you fixed?
The easy answer is that the crawl wins. It's newer, it's automatic, and the code is simpler. It is also the answer that quietly destroys the product. Your correction disappears without a message, the agent goes back to telling people the wrong thing, and the next time you notice you will conclude that editing it is pointless. An owner who stops checking is worse off than one who was never asked.
The rule
So: a crawl never overwrites something you edited. Anything you've touched by hand is yours from then on. When a later re-read finds a different value on your site, that value doesn't go anywhere near the agent. It's parked, and shown to you as a one-click suggestion: your website now says this, want it? Yes and it's swapped in. No and it's gone.
The corollary is that we only mark a topic as “yours” if the text actually changed. It would be much simpler to flag everything on the page each time you press Save, and the effect would be to freeze your entire knowledge base against every future update after one click, without you ever choosing that or being told.
Empty boxes are the point
The core topics show even when nothing was found for them. An empty Pricing box is not a gap in the interface; it is the interface telling you the agent has nothing to say about pricing. Let the page show only the topics that were filled in and every gap becomes invisible, which is precisely the state you most need to see.
If a topic genuinely doesn't apply to your business, dismiss it and it stops nagging. That's a decision you made, which is the whole distinction this page is built on.
What this doesn't solve
Nothing re-checks a topic once it's correct. Your hours can change, nobody presses re-read, and the agent stays confidently wrong so it's worth a look after anything about your business changes. Being able to see everything it knows on one page is what makes that a two-minute job rather than a project.
